Welcome to Play of Mind! A unique literary magazine devoted to publishing poetry, stories and essays by college students
in upstate New York.
Our Mission
The goal of Play of Mind is to publish works by college students who either reside in and/or attend college in upstate New
York. For our purposes, Upstate New York is roughly defined as being north of Poughkeepsie. Play of Mind feels it is important
to allow an outlet to those who are not close to the publishing hub of the country: New York City. It is also important
that the magazine spotlight a part of New York State that is often ignored and undervalued, especially for its creative and
intellectual achievements

Who is behind Play of Mind?
As the main editor, I am originally from Upstate New York (Albany) and now study creative writing at Wells College, also in
upstate New York. My goal is to continue to provide the upstate, college community with a literary publication of its own
as prior editors René Battelle and Jennifer Poggiali intended. With funding from Wells, both Jen and René produced two issues
of Play of Mind prior to their graduation.
